The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will be used for a new Daily 5 and CAFE literacy program, including writing and vocabulary workstations. We have a large carpet that will be placed in the front of the classroom and used as a gathering place during community share time. Currently, we do not have books or a library area available for the students to sit and read. The supplies: sticky notes, dry erase boards/clipboards and markers, bins, and lap desks will be used by the students to stay organized and to note passages, new words, figurative language, etc., for their extended study and Writer's Workshop. In addition, the students and I will use the easel and chart paper for our large and small groups to create anchor charts that reflect the discussions we have during our mini-lessons. The clipboards and lap desks will be offered to students to work where they are comfortable. I am giving up my desk for the students to sit and do their Writer’s Workshop, so I need storage and another set-up for my computer station. The donations to this project will help improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing and the generosity of others who support this cause.
