Many of my students have difficulty with transitions throughout the school day. Using timers that provide visual and auditory feedback as well as visual schedules makes transitions easier. Students that have mild/moderate intellectual disabilities are diverse learners. They have short attention spans and need frequent breaks. My students enjoy engaging in visual art projects in between instructional activities. Assisting students with transitions and providing visual art projects in a self-contained classroom, keeps students motivated and engaged throughout the school day. Diverse learners require accommodations in order to be successful in the classroom.
