My scholars have probably lost a few brain cells from the constant indulging of staring at a computer screen for 40 hours a week. A few of them I know had to get glasses because their vision had gotten worse over the past year. My scholars constantly vented about how they hated learning from a computer. They missed writing. They missed having an organized binder for class. They missed having to sign that binder out to take home just to make sure they were prepared for their test the following day. They missed having random binder checks. They missed stuffing their tickets in the front pocket of their binder. My scholars missed the normalcy. This $2.61 binder will bring back hope for my scholars. They have been overexposed to remote learning, and it is time to return to the basics. I hope that my scholars will appreciate my efforts to attempting to return to normal. Even though it's just a $2.61 binder, this simple gesture could remind my scholars to complete that last question on their independent practice worksheet or keep them on edge about a random binder check, which gives them the responsibility and accountability of always being prepared. My scholars have been deterred from a proper learning experience over the past 16 months. It is now time to return to the basics.
