When the students work together and discuss experiences, they find out they are not alone and will share appropriate information. Scholastic Choices magazine will provide a sounding board of pertinent topics. It is not abnormal for my ES students to develop long lasting bonds with each other. However, they need to be able to have a platform that allows and encourages discussion of their personal issues and values in an appropriate manner. In a school environment milieu experiences can be difficult to obtain. This project is specifically for a class called Transitional Readiness for grades 9-12. The class is an elective for ES students to help them develop and understand the skills they will need to utilize to be successful. Outside of the school setting problems are not discussed or are debated in very inappropriate ways. Some of my students will flourish and some won't, but I try to provide the best supports possible if they choose their path to success.
