I am looking to build a library filled with culturally relevant and authentic texts for my students to read during their daily independent reading rotation in class. Many of the books in my current collection are badly damaged and outdated. A culturally relevant library will help my students connect to reading and improve their literacy. I want my students to see people of various backgrounds, genders, religions, sexualities, and ethnicities reflected in the books they read. This collection will help me develop a well-rounded classroom library that will serve students for years to come.
