All of the materials that I am requesting have a special place set aside in my classroom. The Legos will go with the Lego table we have set up for the children. The cars and rug will be placed in the back of our classroom to foster cooperative play with peers, as well as to be tied into academic lessons with letters. Items such as Brain Flakes, Lincoln Logs, PicassoTiles, etc, allow students to be creative engineers, using materials to make countless original creations as well as build things to coincide with our learning in class. Puppets will go with our puppet theater for dramatic play. The agriculture toys will support our school's new focus as an agriculture school and support the important learning that will be taking place! I am fortunate to work in a district that recognizes the importance of play in a kindergarten classroom, and I want to provide my students with the materials to make the most of this time! We have time set aside daily for structured play. It is a time that my students eagerly anticipate, and it is so exciting to watch the growth that happens through play!
