I am a third year social studies teacher who is slowly but surely building a classroom library that reflects the students in my classroom and the regions of the world that we study. It is important that children are able to read about different perspectives from around the world. My overall goal each year is to teach students the importance of tolerance, understanding, and compassion when learning about people groups different from their own. It is my goal to encourage literacy within my classroom by having a variety of relevant, relatable and engaging books for my students to read. These books will be added into my classroom library to be used for individual check-outs, read-alouds, novel studies, and first chapter Fridays.
