This year I will be implementing a reading room for all grades Kindergarten through 4th. This will be the first reading room our district has had and all students will get the opportunity to practice phonics skills and read books at their level. In order to provide the type of instruction that my students need, I would love to have a set of whiteboards and magnetic letters for each student to manipulate during our lessons. Also, since the classes will be split up into groups, it would be wonderful to have a pocket chart for each teacher in order to do word sorts and model word ladders for the students while they practice on their individual white boards. My goal is to increase my students phonological awareness and reading ability with activities geared specifically for their level.
