Inclusion and the buzz of the day can be very overwhelming for life skills students. Giving my students items to calm down and items to help them remain flexible within structure helps them be successful across all school settings. Providing wobble stools and other seating options gives students the wiggle room they need, while understanding and learning boundaries. As students become overwhelmed and begin to tantrum, sensory items in a calm down space are a great way to teach students how to self monitor their behavior. All of these items will help foster independence!
