Throughout the entire pandemic, students were either sitting alone at home learning from their computer, or sitting in a desk at school also learning from a computer. Collaboration was nearly impossible due to COVID restrictions, and even if it were possible, it was done on Zoom (typically with cameras off). Students need to collaborate, listen, argue, discuss, and disagree in order to grow as humans and as learners. Despite the world looking a lot different, 21st century classrooms look a lot like 20th century classrooms or even 19th century classrooms! Rows of desks provided by the district. The learning may look a lot different but the district provided furniture does not. I am hoping to change that. After a year of not being able to collaborate and discuss, I am moving classrooms and hoping to make this new classroom a place for collaborative learning. I want to provide furniture that is flexible and allows student choice. I also believe that having this furniture will foster a more collaborative learning environment. Thank you for your help in making the 2021 school year 10x better than the 2020 school year!
