My goal is to create a classroom library that makes reading more desirable for my students. The bookshelves and books will be used to create a cozy reading area in my classroom with a variety of books that peek the interests of my students. My hope is that by having a large variety of books I will be able to motivate each of my students to find joy in reading. Reading provides students with a deeper understanding of the world, more developed language skills, and a variety of background knowledge that can be built upon. There is a powerful link between reading for fun and stronger language skills (Terada, 2021). Due to all of the benefits of reading, I want to encourage my students to find joy in reading by providing them with opportunities to read books that are engaging for them. I hope to do this by providing my students with a classroom library that has a variety of books that touch on different topics in a variety of genres.
