The students in my classroom are growing up in a consistently changing and diverse world. I would love the opportunity to provide my classroom with a library that reflects that. The cultures that make up our community are beautiful and all deserve equal representation in our classroom. I have always loved the idea of providing not only mirrors but windows for my students in their reading so they can read about characters that not only look like them but look differently as well. It is important for me to provide my students with equitable classroom resources and to show them that they have a place not only in our classroom, but in our growing community and world. Please help me as a first-year teacher in establishing a firm foundation of love, equity, and respect in my classroom. I would love any help towards this goal of mine and would appreciate it greatly. My ultimate goal would be for each child who comes into my room to feel represented, loved, and appreciated. We live in a world where teaching students these beliefs could be the spark for change.
