About my class

I would like to provide flexible seating for my students. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they sit and the type of seat they would use. Confining a child to a small space with a hard seat stifles learning. The students I teach are active. They are often restless because they are so restricted. Flexible seating will allow my students a choice in where they sit and will allow them to sit in chairs that allow for movement without distracting others. The increased movement will increase the flow of oxygen to the brain and will increase their engagement. Many flexible seating options are sensory and can help them focus and process information. I would like my classroom environment to be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. I do not think this can be done when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day.
