Schools are seeing more students come to school, not knowing how to manage their emotions, especially when it comes to playing with other students or following a class structure. These students are bright and brilliant, they are just missing that little piece to help them further their learning. Sensory exploration is a huge answer to this dilemma. A sensory tub can be filled with many different kinds of sensory fillers, that will help with fine motor skills, along with developing their math skills, ELAR skills, and social emotional skills. With a sensory tub, it isn't just about "playing," even though that is what students think it is. With a sensory tub, one week you could fill it up with water beads and have numbers or letters hidden in it for them to locate and identify. The next week you may be studying shapes and you could fill it up with colored rice and hide different shapes. The possibilities are endless. Students are able to work together and there is just something soothing to students about scooping, pouring, and feeling the sensory fillers with your hands.
