Materials such as throw pillows, lamps, wall art, a water fountain, an accent table, and a faux tree will help us build a calming space. Other materials such as stress balls, framed sand art, bubble sensory fidget toys, metal spinning fidget toys, sensory finger rings, and books will provide them with the proper tools to learn how to self-regulate. When kids are dealing with emotions they can't manage, they spend less time in the classroom. If we at LMMS can provide them with the necessary mindfulness tools and quiet, peaceful space, they can develop the proper skills to self-regulate and stay in the classroom. Aside from teaching self-regulation skills in our wellness room, we will also run small groups such as anxiety, friendship, social skills, etc.
