Our aesthetic environment has a big impact on the way that we feel. And, the way we feel has a big impact on our attitude and mindset to learning. For children, this is no different. In fact, children are usually even more aware and sensitive to their surroundings. This is especially so for students with specific sensory needs. This is because their physical environment can calm them and make them feel safe and open to learning. Providing my students with a calming and aesthetic classroom gives me the opportunity to impact their progress and success as soon as they walk through the doors of our classroom. A comfortable and caring classroom environment comes in many forms. The materials funded for this project will be used to give my students the learning environment they need to do their very best. Providing my students with fun phonics games that connect to their interests is a great way for them to feel excited to learn in our classroom. Lastly, my students come from diverse backgrounds with different home lives and situations. I want to provide them with a safe space for them to regulate their emotions. Having a calming corner will give my students a space to take a break and regulate their emotions.
