My classroom is an environment for all inclusive learners. The goal is to produce determined students regardless of their cognitive levels whether they are verbal and nonverbal, to be empowered to acquire independence. Unfortunately, students with disabilities may be discouraged and lead to believe that they have only a ceiling of potential to reach. My goal as an educator is to remove those barriers and encourage my students to have limitless thinking and to be autonomous. I want to teach my girls to be independent and allow them opportunities to cook and clean for themselves. Some of my girls have never learned or have had the opportunity to do something as simple as washing and drying their own clothes. Since we already have a washer, the donation of the dryer places my students in a position to practice developing these skills among others in the classroom.
