I have the privilege of teaching 14 awesome first graders. My 14 students are very motivated to read, but they do not always have someone to listen to them read. They come from a mixture of backgrounds. 42% of my students are English Language Learners as there are 6 different languages spoken it the homes. 50% of my students are economically disadvantaged. My students like to read to each other and pretend that they are the teacher. They share their work and are always asking questions. They love to use technology. They are interested in fiction and non-fiction books. They visit our media center often to exchange books.
