My third grade students have been uniquely impacted by COVID-19 primarily because they have missed out on years of learning opportunities. This age group has not had a traditional school year since pre-k, if they even attended pre-k! Most of my student's are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and do not have access to play groups in which they would develop normal peer interactions. The Lego projects I wish to bring into my classroom will help students develop social skills, cooperative learning opportunities as well as have a deeper understanding of the English Language concepts. Students will be building scenes from their favorite books and stories as well as stories they create themselves.
