Although it may seem like a mash up of items, each item in this project has a purpose. The mirrors and "you" posters will be used to create a bulletin board that allows students to recognize they are responsible for their actions and their learning. The carpets will give a more home-like atmosphere where hopefully they will curl up and read. The positive posters will add the the home-like atmosphere and change the scenery that students see for two years. The incentive punch cards will be used to reach self set goals. The smelly stickers (yes 5th & 6th graders still love them) will be given in response to written works like journal entries and creative writings. The containers and baskets will be used to organize closets so that I can be a better teacher by easily accessing materials for projects and assignments. The white boards and buzzer buttons will be used to learn while playing games in class. Each item in this project will have a positive influence on some really amazing kids. We were fortunate enough to remain in class learning this entire year so I am looking forward to creating an environment to reengage students when they return to school next year.
