The sensory supports and flexible seating I have chosen will allow students to take charge of their sensory systems and to keep them engaged and focused during the school day. When our sensory system is not regulated, it’s so difficult to learn new concepts. When their body seems to be overwhelmed or frustrated, we can provide the students with calming tools to help their body deescalate and get their bodies back in a calm state to learn. During group lessons, these sensory supports will help my students be able to move their bodies without disrupting others (using fidgets, flexible seating, or wobble cushions) so they can take in the information and learn. Assemblies and lunchtime in the cafeteria can be so loud at times, noise cancelling headphones will be a staple for my classroom. We use them a lot to help students who have noise sensitivities. With these headphones, students can enjoy those fun assemblies and have lunch with their peers without feeling overstimulated. These products will be extremely beneficial for students that just need to get the wiggles out. I have seen how keeping a regulated sensory system can greatly impact my students' work and learning. Thank you for your support!
