We honestly have no idea what our future looks like in terms of teaching - at school, hybrid, or from home. But whatever the future brings, I believe both of these novels will add meaningful learning opportunities to our curriculum. I want my students to have the opportunity to identify themselves in the novels we read together, or identify with others who may be struggling with social justice and empathize with their classmates and community members better. We have read Code Talker together but don't have our own classroom set. The Crossover series has been a huge hit from the library and was featured in my "First Chapter Friday" readings.
