Many students are visual learners. In Biology, we learn about cells, which cannot be seen with the naked eye. This project will allow my students to SEE bacteria once they have reproduced and multiplied in the Petri dishes, confirming that bacteria are truly everywhere! Students may swab an area of their choice (phone, hands, desk, doorknob, etc.) and then grow their own bacteria from it! They enjoy autonomy and hands-on learning so I know this will be a hit with my Biology learners and something they will remember for years to come.
