Imagine you need a place to get some work done. You walk into a coffee shop that is unorganized, things are mismatched and falling apart, you can see stains in the rug and markings on the furniture. Now, imagine you walk into another coffee shop and everything is organized and has it's place, the colors of the room are cohesive and the furniture feels sturdy and clean. Which shop are you more likely to work efficiently? Which environment allows you to focus without distractions? Which space cultivates a feeling of happiness and calm? That feeling of content and calm focus is what I want to provide for my students. I want them to walk into a classroom that feels good to be in. I want my students to be proud of the environment they learn in. Most of all, I want my students to spend their days in a place that they take ownership of because when they own their surroundings, they put stake into it. They won't want to waste away an opportunity to learn in a classroom that feels good to them. This project is a huge step in the direction I would like the feel and look of our classroom to be. It will provide a calming, peaceful and organized space for elementary age students to participate in their education. Our class has cultivated a growth-mindset, supportive community and intrinsic motivation. This project would allow the physical environment to match the spirit of our hearts.
