For the first time in years, we will be offering a Latinx Literature class where students will get to explore our diverse racial and ethnic pasts in the Northside of Denver. We will be discussing relevant Latinx experiences that form our identity, engage in critical discussions about how our community must expand our own understandings of Latinidad and Chicanidad to actively include Afro-Latinx people, and work to dismantle the pain and oppression we perpetaute against women, non-binary, and trans people in our community. Along the way, we will also be evaluating what we do about our own Latinx identity as Northsiders in our changing neighborhood to ultimately build self-determination, pride, and love in ourselves and in our community.
