These materials will provide a multitude of opportunities for my students. With these tools, my students will be able to learn a range of skills from design, production, packaging and shipping, inventory, and sales just to name a few. All of these skills will provide my students with an experience that can transfer into the real world of work. Students can use these skills to prepare for future employment or even create their own small businesses. My students will learn to be self-starters. This hands-on opportunity will enable my students to practice executive functioning skills by producing orders from start to finish. As students with a range of disabilities, these tools in our classroom will allow my students to learn workplace skills in the comfort of their own environment so that when they are employed, they will have had experience and identified strategies and supports they need to be successful. Many of my students struggle with anxiety, focus, and attention to task. The items in this project will allow us to simulate a workplace environment in a safe, smaller, and familiar environment (classroom) so that my students can learn and practice basic job skills without stress/distractions. Students will complete a variety of tasks such as taking inventory, organizing, and prep and planning which are all general workplace tasks they may encounter in the real world. Depending on each student's goal, these items will create an opportunity to practice a skill that can carry over to their desired field. Expected student outcomes are that students will receive hands-on experience to better prepare for future job acquisition. This includes, learning to be resourceful, cooperative, creative, and detail-oriented. Students will also learn customer service skills.
