Most students with dyslexia have co-morbid disorders or disabilities. According to the International Dyslexia Association, approximately 30% of those with dyslexia have coexisting AD/HD. Standing desks allow students to move and engage their bodies while learning, thus improving concentration. In addition, because these desks are electric and adjustable, they also allow the opportunity for flexibility in seating and choice that I have not been able to offer due to space constraints. When students are given a choice in how they learn, they are happier and more engaged. My dyslexic students deserve the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. This opportunity begins with an adequate space in which to learn. Adjustable standing desks would greatly improve my students' learning environment as they engage in the challenging process of dyslexia remediation.
