When I put the textbooks out on the desks, I always get the dreaded sighs from the students. I try to tell them that it will be a good story and that they will like it, but I still get the eye rolls. They always end up liking it, but I still have to listen to the grumbling at the sight of the books. I remember sitting in class when I was in junior high and the teacher pulling out the magazines that we read together. I couldn't wait to do the crossword, maze or whatever fun thing there was to do with the article. I want my students to see those magazines and get excited about reading current events. I love that these subscriptions come with a digital version also. If we happen to need to go back to virtual learning, they can still do everything from home.
