Computer Science is a brand-new curriculum in my middle school, and we have limited supplies available to us. The main objective of this course will be to get students excited about unlocking their creative side to solve real world problems. The standards call for students to be innovative designers and creators. With the help of these materials, students will be able to explore, design, and create their own programs and inventions to make coding and programming move beyond a screen to see the tangible results of their work. The 6th grade curriculum calls for students to learn the basics of how computers work and networking. We have equipment that has been surplussed by the county technology department to meet the needs for those students. The 8th grade curriculum is focused on web-based creation, like website design and digital game design. However, the 7th grade curriculum is all about programming and coding. The materials requested will greatly increase student engagement and creativity through hands-on experiential learning.
