Having basic school supplies ready in the classroom relieves a financial burden from parents or guardians who may struggle with procuring the funds to buy the materials themselves. It also ensures that, should students run out of materials, they will not be deprived of the opportunity to engage in class in they way they are expected to. When such a deprivation is not remedied, it naturally leads to the students being punished through unfairly low scores that do not represent their actual capabilities. A lack of socioeconomic privilege should never be cause for failure!
