This past year because of COVID-19 and being a low income school; I gave out the last of my crayons and a few other supplies to help with students whose parents could not afford personal supplies for art. I have little supplies for special art projects and need these supplies for Kindergarten-5th grade. I have a room with no sink and found that tempera paint sticks and painting with tissue paper are a great option for handling this situation. Having my students participate in art projects that involve Hispanic heritage like traditional Papel Picados and Amante Bark Paintings help our students feel like they belong in our diverse southeast Texas community. Having quality children's books help with bridging art projects and give the students another opportunity to have a book read to them. This will be my first experience asking for donations and trying out Donors Choose. I am excited to see what others can do to help the art studio here at Guess Elementary.
