Flexible seating encourages students to share and take turns with the different seating options. It also makes it quick and easy for students to work in small groups and collaborate with their peers. Flexible seating allows students to have a choice in their learning environment. Students can choose what seat works best for them. This allows students to take ownership of their learning. An uncomfortable student is a distracted and unproductive student. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. Being able to wobble, bounce, rock, or stand helps students stay focused during instruction. The products I have selected for my class will help my students by giving them a comfy, cozy, and effective learning environment. The wobble stools will allow students to sit at higher tables and move or wobble when needed. These will be great for students who need to wiggle. The floor seating will provide comfortable seating on the floor for students who cannot sit at a desk and learn. They can be used in many areas of the classroom. The lap desks and clipboards will also provide students who choose to sit on the carpet or floor space to bear down on when they need to write. I have seen how giving students a choice can positively affect their learning and I hope that I can provide that for my students. I taught digitally this past year, but next school year will be my first-year face to face in the classroom and I know that my students would benefit tremendously from flexible seating options.
