Gluing in notes to composition books is an organizational skill but, more importantly, these books become the students' textbook. Our district is one-to-one, meaning every student has a device to use while in school and while out of school. Textbooks are available online and limit different learning styles. The more modalities a student uses when learning, the higher retention the student has. Writing is both visual and kinetic. It is not passive. The students need supplies to accomplish greater understanding. This is accomplished by using composition notebooks in math class.
