I teach special education to wonderful group of 11 students. They have a range of disabilities. They access their education in a completely remote setting and are rising to every technological challenge. They have demonstrated a willingness to persist in their own self-directed learning through youtube and google as well as variety of school-wide digital platforms. In our typical in-person setting, they learn a variety of vocational skills from cooking and baking to filling school wide copy requests. They are interested in learning how to complete work tasks from start to finish. With these materials my students will be able to apply the knowledge they have in sequential task completion to create exciting new projects. Not only will students be able to create awesome projects, but they will also learn how to sell and market their product. My students will be able to create a whole classroom business. They will learn how to reinvest in their business and brand and their school community. Although they face many challenges day to day, they are resilient and passionate about learning independent living skills. These materials will help them to learn a whole new skill that also serves as a creative outlet. This project will not only serve my class of 11, but countless others in our building.
