Chapter books are exciting for second graders! However, a chapter book filled with words is a daunting and scary sight for struggling readers. Graphic novels remove barriers by providing pictures to support readers. Readers can "read" the pictures to help them read the book and can use the pictures as context clues to decode the text. Graphic novels are motivating, new, and exciting for students! Graphic novels grab students' attention with captivating illustrations and are appealing due to their unique layout. The headphones will be loaned to students who do not have a pair of their own. Students need headphones to fully engage with several online platforms that we use for learning.
