My students start each year with pop music in their minds, plus we're Texans! Needless to say, our vowels are not tall and round and it's a big learning curve to teach them correct Latin vowels for correct singing in a choral setting. Behold, the Vowel Boot Camp Basic Training lesson I learned about at our state music convention! This project divides classes into 5 stations with a group leader, carrying these fun supplies in their bag, and they complete a gallery walk in all groups, learning all five Latin vowel shapes through very creative methods, such as using ping pong balls, paper clips, straws, mints and more!
