Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and be their most comfortable while learning! This year since being in-person, I have allowed my students to sit on the floor, on the class rug, and under tables. I have found this really does make a difference in their focus, and they are more responsible as they work independently since they were able to make this choice. Next year, I would like to have more tools to create this comfort and focus. The books I have selected create this too. These affirming books celebrate my students identities and welcome their own stories in the classroom. My students are lovable and capable, and I want them to be reminded of that daily during read alouds and more.
