Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning everyday. During small groups and independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Additionally students who need extra supports will use this seating during whole group to help with engagement. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in my room. Some examples include, under our small group tables, on carpets, or on the classroom stage. I am a first year teacher and therefore do not have much to spend on my classroom, but I want to make it a place full of joyful learning for years to come . Students will feel more motivated to work and grow when they are given the option to choose where they learn. My students are visibly more engaged, excited, and ready to participate when they sit in a spot that is comfortable to them. The products I have selected will help my students stay engaged, excited, and focused. The stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at a variety of places. The comfy floor seats will allow for additional floor seating options. The clipboards will allow for students to work in any part of the room using paper or even expo markers for whole group activities. The seat cushions will be great for students who need to get their wiggles out or choose to work from the floor during class. Lastly, the yoga ball options will be used at all times in the lesson. These will be placed as a set in one group table and rotated from week to week so that all students may utilize the chairs. Overall, I know flexible seating will boost the overall moral and engagement in my classroom for many years to come.
