Our students routinely work collaboratively as they engage in their daily learning experiences. Currently, our library furniture is heavy and bulky. It does not lend itself to a flexible environment so that adjustments can be made depending upon the learning outcome. Students are more likely to take ownership of their learning if they are able to make small adjustments to their environment. By providing our students with mobile furniture, they will be able to efficiently transition the space to promote an optimal learning environment. Examples of this may include a solitary experience in a chair, a large group scenario in which all voices can be heard, or a smaller group where their efforts can be integrated into a discussion, product, or specific outcome.
