Many times in class, students are directed to watch videos related to their learning and, more often than not, they have no headphones so are forced to turn their volume down so low they cannot hear very well. During reading, I encourage students to use both visual and auditory modes of learning in order to become a better reader, so they listen to the story being read while reading along with their eyes. That way, when they answer questions, they know where to find the answers. Finally, I have several students that struggle to hand-write or type even the most basic sentences while their peers are writing multi-paragraph essays and stories. For these kids, the headphones with mics will allow them to use the speech-to-text feature on their Chromebooks to tell the amazing essays and stories they have in their minds but can’t ever get to paper.
