I work in an elementary school in a very large district where science labs and equipment are rarities. I believe strongly in the curious mind of children as a tool for engagement and learning. I want to provide as many scientific lab investigation opportunities as possible. By providing my students with basic lab equipment, I can bring the lab setting into my elementary classroom. I want to use test tubes to practice measuring liquids and mixing substances. I want to use microscopes and triple beam balances to show students how to use complex scientific equipment to do things they have never done before and to "be scientific". I want to use the cylinders and beakers for chemistry and capacity and volume and density experiments. Basically, I am hoping to get some basic equipment that I can then use in a wide variety of experiments throughout the year.
