I teach students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in an elementary school. My students this year are in grades 2-4. I currently have 7 students, including 5 boys and 2 girls. Their ages range from 8-1. Their verbal abilities range from non-verbal to functionally communicative. We use a number of assistive technology devises in my classroom to promote language and communication. Included in the daily instruction are numerous sensory breaks to help our students with body awareness and motor skills. Sensory integration is a vital part of my daily instruction. Providing my students with sensory breaks throughout the day addresses their physical and cognitive needs. My students have worn out the current sensory materials we have and they are in desperate need of new and updated sensory items for a variety of activities.
