Long gone are the days when you would walk into a classroom and expect ALL students to be sitting quietly at their desks. Every student learns differently and we should be able to accommodate them as best as possible. As adults we get tired of sitting all day, now imagine a child with ADHD(which is a common disability with our students). Stand up desks will not only facilitate student engagement in the classroom, but will also allow for students to see physical, mental, and educational benefits. Allowing students to stand and move around the boundaries of their standup desk will allow them to burn energy which will lead to better classroom behavior. Furnishing my classroom with several standup desks will not only help with the consequences of prolonged sitting upon children's health, but it will also facilitate their academic progress and accommodate for my students' needs especially now that we have transitioned to hybrid learning models.
