My students come from a diverse background and from very low socioeconomic statuses. Our student's backgrounds lend themselves to a multitude of social and emotional learning. I am working diligently to provide resources and share stories with my students to foster their social and emotional learning. Social and emotional learning is the heart of my instruction to ensure our students find success both in and out of school. Our students need additional support in understanding, empathy, gratitude, kindness, making friendships, and loyalty, for example. The books that I have selected give our students additional resources to ensure their social and emotional learning is supported.
