Do you ever look back at your World Language classes in High school and think, “geez, all those years and I can barely speak the language”? Research in language acquisition shows that students learn better when teachers curate authentic resources and implement the use of comprehensible input. Because Spanish is the second language in the US, it is so important that we keep language learning in the classroom strong and that we motivate students to want to learn and maintain their newly acquired language. So many benefits stem from speaking a language other than English and in a globalized world, our children (our future) will greatly benefit from being bilingual/multilingual! This comprehensible input curriculum will help my students really comprehend the science behind learning a new language, all while making it motivating and fun!
