These books will be in the hands of my students all year long. I strive to create a culture of independent reading throughout the academic school year in my curriculum. I want my students to be able to read books that will show them different experiences than the ones they are living. With these new books students will be able to pick books that are windows into different worlds than their own. Having a diverse library will help my students be able to pick books that interest them throughout the school year. My biggest goal for independent reading is to put books into the hands of my students and for them to be able to find books that they will enjoy.
