The school environment has never been a place where my students have felt at ease. Learning has always been a struggle and so has the simple task of getting up and going into the classroom. It is so very important to me that I give students a place where not only do they feel comfortable both inside and out but also a place of acceptance. True learning does not happen until they are in a place where they know they are accepted for who they are and feel at ease. I work with students who have had many trials and traumas in their lifetime. This project will allow me (us) to give students a sense of belonging and a sense of home. It is then, that we are able to see true learning happen. Each student will be given the choice of their own personal learning space and will be able to set it up the way that best fits their own unique needs. This small gesture will give my students a sense of control that many of them have not felt in quite some time, and you can be a small part of their success. Please take a moment to think about donating a small amount.
