My English 1 Honors class students are predominately first generation college bound students. Over 80% of my students are Hispanic and will be the first in their family to attempt to go to college. Magazines, newspapers and text rich environments are rare in most of my students' homes due to economics. Our school library is limited by budget in providing current events reading materials and up to date reading materials which makes it a challenge for my students to be avid readers.
