All of my students face daily challenges to keep their bodies and minds engaged and focused on learning. Each of these students exhibits special needs that create obstacles to accessing their education. Many of these students also experience significant barriers outside of the school setting as well. With your help, my students will be able to utilize these tools to calm and regulate themselves so their brains are ready for learning. Fidget items are utilized by students to provide much needed sensory input. This input allows students to calm their bodies and prepare to learn. Fidget items are utilized in two different ways. At times, students take what is called a "brain break" in our school's sensory room to help them reset their bodies. Other times, students are able to pick a small fidget to utilize appropriately during classroom learning to help them self-regulate.
