One of the most important ways to do learn a language is through reading! Our classes have some very voracious readers. This project will create an English as a New Language library for students to take out books and do projects with all year long. All of the books have characters and settings representative of our student's home countries. It will be a way for students to learn about each other and see themselves reflected in literature. The books in this collection are fiction and reflect many aspects of the students' lives. It can be a story that takes place in their home country, a story that verbalizes the experience of immigrating to a new place, or the diversity of our families once we are here. Each book is a starting point to a conversation about lived experiences through the eyes of a child.
